Len was born in South Wales in the Rhymney Valley and in spite of not living in the Principality for over 40 years still considers himself a fervent Welshman, especially when Wales play England at Rugby. He is married to Linda who is a member of Inner Wheel and Church Stretton WI. They have two grown up children, daughter Karen who is married to Paul, they have three children two boys and a girl. Their son Vivian married two years ago to Madhuri. Len is now retired and after being trained and educated by the National Coal Board then left South Wales to work in the Oil Industry for over 30 years. This included working on UK refineries, a spell in Holland and a considerable period in the design, construction and offshore commissioning of very large North Sea Oil Platforms. He also travelled extensively during this period of his career. Len used to play a handy game of golf playing off a handicap of 14 but after a hip operation went wrong in 2005 which resulted in him losing the whole of his right leg his activities are now much restricted. He does however still keep fit and enjoys swimming, gardening and is interested in Photography and the Theatre. Len is looking forward to working with fellow Rotarians in order to serve the local community and also to help Rotary in the wider world
